This story was a good one, but slightly difficult for me to follow at first. Because each character has 2 different names, I found I had to go back and figure out who was whom a few different times before I got used to the style of writing this author used. Once that was out of the way, the book flowed a little more for me.

This book has several parts – each part was well thought out and enjoyable. I really liked all of the characters, but wish there was a little more background on a few. The two more rogue of the characters were very interesting and I liked the twists that they inserted. Also, the fact that there were several protection sectors intersecting to create this lethal task force was a nice concept – but sometimes, it felt a little like they were from nothing – more like they were a rag – tag group of highly trained people who were all working for the same cause. I don’t know if the fact that they were all from different agencies really enhanced the story.

I liked Hawk and Pierce’s characters a lot – as well as the other men who were in this force. While there was not a lot of emotion, when there was, I felt that Via did a fairly good job of getting the emotion across. I felt the loss, the worry, the joy.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read for me.

If I could rate this book more than 5 stars I would. This was one action packed exciting read. The storyline was so intense I couldn’t put it down. The way it was written kept you so engrossed in the story of the Beastmasters. It was so descriptive in the writing, the scenes were easily visualized.

I’m not sure which of the characters was the hottest, though I’m leaning towards Hawk; hot, huge, gorgeous, overbearing yet protective. Or Pierce, the genius of the group. Then there is Shot, older yet clearly not as confident about commitment. And Fox, ready to committ. Then the mysterious Alpha and the commanding Call.

The author did a fantastic job describing the characters and making the storyline fit so well with them.

I’m going to have to get my hands on book I of this series and hope the author writes more with these characters. Excellent book, highly recommend you pick this one up.
