As We Are

Title: As We Are
Author Name: Willa Okati
Publication Date: October 31, 2014

Synopsis

Can the rebels with a cause change their ways, or will they miss their chance?

Wild, rebellious, and rakish, Cade’s been a bad boy since the day he was born. Don’t get him wrong—he’s as aware of his faults as he is his virtues, and he thinks he’d be better off without a mate of his own. He’d be a hell of a handful to keep up with.

Then a chance encounter brings Cade into Dennis’ path. Blind since birth, Dennis prides himself on being plainspoken and knowing how to have a good time. He isn’t looking for a soulmate either, but after meeting Cade he’s tempted to change his mind.

ThreeStar

Cade and Dennis are two bachelors who enjoy being bachelors. This is a soul mate book that just really didn’t do that much more me. The writing was good, the editing too, but it just felt really rushed. I really enjoyed Nathaniel – he was my favorite character. His matchmaking skills made me laugh and the lengths that he went to get Cade and Dennis to see that they were good together were funny.

Okati did a great job with the describing the relationship between brothers – but because I didn’t really get to know Dennis, I had a hard time seeing the connection between Cade and Dennis. They had a great physical connection and it seemed that was all they needed in order to be soul mates. No emotional connection was necessary and that made it much harder for me to “believe” the story too. I think if Okati had taken more time to develop the relationship instead of “insta connection”, it would have made for a better story.

AuthorBio

A multi-published author of GLBT erotic, romantic fiction since 2004, I love trying new things — I have 1001 crazy ideas and want to write them all! I exist primarily on caffeine and pixels, take “camera shy” to a whole new level, and persist in trying to learn the pennywhistle despite being woefully tone-deaf. During the summer, I’m a wild woman with henna.
