Invicta Book 1
This book has description of an almost rape – if that is something you are sensitive to, do not read.
Holton (Holt) is a country boy who ended up in a bad situation. He was hiding his true self from his family and when things went bad, it was necessary for him to run away. Kade is a street smart kid who knows what living on the streets can be like. He has survived by being smart.
These two meet under circumstances that allow for them to meet their physical needs and what ensues is a story of how they survived together. They were able to lean on and learn from one another. Kade needs to save Holt from a would be rape and from there on, these two were inseparable.
I think where this book fell flat for me was that it was more a story of their past and when you first pick up the story, you expect their future. They are on the verge of opening their own club – a place that held a lot of history for them. In reality, this book takes place 15 years beforehand. Also, it moves very fast – I feel like you do not truly get to know Kade – only impressions of him. Despite hating Holt’s family, at least we know why he ran.
I did enjoy the descriptions of their dancing. I thought that it added to their characters a lot.
My man is one magnetic mother fucker. You would think he was a snake charmer playing the pungi, with the way he draws me straight into his trance. That delicate tongue slithering back and forth over those plump, red lips. Slowly he glosses them in a coat of wet saliva, making them nice and slippery. So fucking inviting. Grinning, he bites down, pulling off an alluring suck, as he draws one side into his mouth, scraping it with his teeth. Lip-tease.
“I have something for you. Give me a second.” He shakes grins and leaves the room.
He walks back in, around the corner, in a blue jockstrap and matching bowtie. Fucking hot as hell in that ass -less get up, been a while since he did a private dance for me though. Hell my dick’s already getting hard. I arch one eyebrow, ready for this show. Standing to the side of the bed his hips start to sway and he trickles that tongue over his top lip this time. So good. I give him a half grin, and run my hand over the bulge that’s forming under the denim of my jeans. Holt’s all muscle to start with, but when he starts with those body rolls, rippling down from his chest to his waist and on to his knees, he nails it every time. He always was the show stealer. Gorgeous, and he rocked out in all the right places, looking like a fuck god on stage, everyone wanted him. I was just determined.
What can I say? Hmmm…I’m just a country girl at heart for starters. living in Texas tends to do that to a girl.
I’m full of bless your hearts too, but not everyone knows what that really means. Hahaha
I was born in Houston and raised in a little place just twenty miles North, called Old Town Spring.
It’s like one of those little bitty dots on a map, the kind you have to squint your eyes to see it and if you blink you’ll miss it.
Originally, it was an old, country railroad town and was the hide out place for gangsters Bonnie & Clyde.
(Until they decided to shoot up the place, that is.)
Now, the railroad here is one of the biggest train switching stations in the state. Every night you hear
the horns blaring as trains come and go. Plus it rattles the windows.
You get used to it.
This is what I have called home for…well, just say for a long time.
