Synopsis

Kaden Thorn, a dental surgeon who lives a quiet life, has no hope of finding the love he craves. A vicious gay bashing cost him the use of his legs and confined him to a wheelchair. He has given up hope of finding a Dom or even a nonkink partner to love him. When his best friend practically forces him to attend a dinner party, the last thing he expects is a strong Dom who can see beyond his wheels.

Deacon James is an architect and a demanding Dom, but he has spent the past couple of years without a sub or partner. When an employee invites him to a dinner party to meet his girlfriend, Deacon smells a setup but agrees anyway. He prides himself on being an excellent judge of character, and when he meets the younger dentist, he sees past the chair and finds a sweet submissive man who more than piques his interest.

Kade’s fears and demons continue to haunt him, challenging Deacon to use everything he’s learned as a Dom to earn Kade’s trust and submission. Deacon’s determined, though, willing to battle all of it to have Kade by his side and at his feet.

FourandHalfStars

Kade is such a sweet character. It makes me so sad that his pain and injury defined him for so long. Katie is definitely a force in Kade’s life that is both domineering and gentle. I loved her character so much. The relationship between Kade and Katie was one that really helped me get to know Kade on a personal level. Despite his relationship with Katie, he still is not comfortable sharing his submissive side with her, which I found both good and bad. I liked that he wanted to keep that part of himself, for himself, but I also thought that her character would have understood.

Deacon was kind of an enigma. O’Riley did a fantastic job with the inner dialogue for Deacon. I really liked knowing how he was feeling about Kade’s inability to trust, inability to see past his own handicap. Deacon’s dominating nature was almost sweet – he was constantly worrying how Kade would feel.

I also really liked that Sam and Jake became a part of their story. O’Riley did a great job at reintegrating Kade in to the BDSM scene that he had lost. Sam and Jake became more of Kade’s family – which I felt he needed. The relationship between Deacon and Kade was so balanced – it was refreshing.

I loved the ending – it was so great, but she made me wish I knew where they were going!
