All I can start out by saying is WOW!  Loved this book. It had one of the most moving stories about being in love.
The story was so touching I  didn’t expect to cry, but every time I picked it up to read, I found myself crying.
Every time I had to stop reading,  I was always thinking about what could possibly happen next.
The author did a wonderful job with the characters, all the pain, sickness, and love that Jensen and Mike went through, was so much for two people, but their love held them together as friends.  Finally they get that one chance, but will they take it, no spoilers, you need to read it!
Wanted to keep reading about Mike and Jensen but the book was done, so wish there was more!!

FourandHalfStars

This was a book that drew me in right from page one. The two main characters, Jensen and Mike, have an intense relationship, and the book spans two decades in their lives as they navigate what it means to be adults and how to remain in each other’s lives.

Both men are complex, full of insecurities and each with their own challenges that have, in a way, stalled their growing up. I liked the unusual nature of their relationship. This is neither a portrait of a long-term couple nor a falling-in-love story, though it has elements of both.

I will admit the direction the story took was not at all what I was expecting, and I loved it. Without giving too much away, I’ll just say the way these two men finally found their stride was unusual and wonderful, and it had me sighing with delight by the end of the book.

There is plenty of hot sex in this one, so be prepared. It’s more intense and aggressive than steamy or sensual, with a distinctly raw quality to it. It fit the characters and the story well, and I never felt as though the sex was gratuitous because of its importance to the storyline.

The one negative was that it was often hard to follow conversations and know who was speaking. This was partly due to formatting in the e-book copy, but not entirely. I wish the author had used more dialogue tags to make things more clear. It was enough that I was frequently distracted and brought out of the story because I was trying to figure out who was talking.

Other than that, I loved it and look forward to reading Ms. Tortuga’s other books.

AuthorInterview

  • What motivated you to start writing?

I can’t remember ever wanting to be anything else. Ever. I have been a creative professional, whether it be writing or design or illustration, my entire career.

  • Who or what is your biggest inspiration for writing?

My wife, Julia, and my best friend, Sean, are my constant support and inspiration. I couldn’t do it without them. Also, all the cowboys I grew up with.

  • What is your writing environment? (Where do you write, what do you do to prepare right before you start writing)

I have two spaces – one is my office, which I share with Julia. I have a huge roll top desk where I do my official writing work. It’s filled with nooks and crannies and crayons to sketch with. Then we have a writing space in the sun room which looks out onto the mountains with comfy couches and overstuffed ottomans

  • What is the hardest part of a book for you? Any particular scene(s)?

The angst. I hate writing the sad parts, which is ironic given that Say Something has those incredible emotional highs and lows. I’m one of those writers that sobs along with the characters and my heart breaks with theirs.

  • If you only could write in one genre, what would it be? And if you couldn’t write in that genre what genre would you pick next?

Oh, I’m a romance writer, to the bone, but if I had to write something else, I’d write horror novels. That was my first love and still my favorite read.

  • If you could spend a day with one author, who would it be and why?
  • What do you like to see in book reviews? What makes a review better than other ones to you?

I don’t read my own reviews – if they’re terrible, they wreck my confidence. My wife reads them and, she lets me know if there’s something I need to work on or if there’s something I did right. I appreciate reviews that are fair, whether good or bad.

  • If you could give one tip to new writers, what would it be?

Write every day, whether or not you’re in the mood. If you’re not writing, you should be reading.

  • How do you make hard decisions with your books? Like the title of the book or some of the characters actions?

I know this sounds like a cop-out, but I talk to my wife. If I’m stuck, I talk to J. If I’m worried, I talk to J. Even if she doesn’t fix it, she knows the questions to ask so that I can get back on trac

  • If you could only use 4 words to describe yourself, what would they be?

Luckiest old broad ever.

Excerpt

“So, this guy, he’s the one?” Ricky leaned over the edge of the bed, head dangling down.

“That kills brain cells, man.” Mike looked at himself in the mirror, working the thick pancake makeup to make the scar less noticeable.

“Uh-huh. So does green, and we smoke that. The scar is hot, honey. Leave it alone.”

Mike grunted. “He’s only ever seen it with stitches.”

“He’s, like, a real cowboy?”

“Uh-huh. We’ve been together forever. I just… I can’t believe he’s coming.” Really coming, here.

Jenson. Finally. Mike touched up his eyeliner, and looked at himself again. Maybe glasses….

“You’re such a big queen.” Ricky laughed, waving at him upside down.

“You’re just jealous that I’m not your big queen.”

“Nah. You’re too toppy.” Ricky cackled, and Mike had to laugh. Everyone knew Rick would bottom up for anyone.

“Oh yeah. I’m a big bad leather daddy.” He turned and flexed, playing happily. Ricky was going to be a model. Hell, the guy was already working. Him, though, he still wanted to act.

He thought he could. His profs said he had talent. He just had his damned face to overcome.

The phone rang, and he spun around. “Oh God. Do you think it’s him?”

This story was a good one, but slightly difficult for me to follow at first. Because each character has 2 different names, I found I had to go back and figure out who was whom a few different times before I got used to the style of writing this author used. Once that was out of the way, the book flowed a little more for me.
This book has several parts – each part was well thought out and enjoyable. I really liked all of the characters, but wish there was a little more background on a few. The two more rogue of the characters were very interesting and I liked the twists that they inserted. Also, the fact that there were several protection sectors intersecting to create this lethal task force was a nice concept – but sometimes, it felt a little like they were from nothing – more like they were a rag – tag group of highly trained people who were all working for the same cause. I don’t know if the fact that they were all from different agencies really enhanced the story.
I liked Hawk and Pierce’s characters a lot – as well as the other men who were in this force. While there was not a lot of emotion, when there was, I felt that Via did a fairly good job of getting the emotion across. I felt the loss, the worry, the joy.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read for me.

If I could rate this book more than 5 stars I would.  This was one action packed exciting read.  The storyline was so intense I couldn’t put it down.  The way it was written kept you so engrossed in the story of the Beastmasters.  It was so descriptive in the writing, the scenes were easily visualized.
I’m not sure which of the characters was the hottest, though I’m leaning towards Hawk; hot, huge, gorgeous, overbearing yet protective.  Or Pierce, the genius of the group.  Then there is Shot, older yet clearly not as confident about commitment.  And Fox, ready to committ.  Then the mysterious Alpha and the commanding Call.
The author did a fantastic job describing the characters and making the storyline  fit so well with them.
I’m going to have to get my hands on book I of this series and hope the author writes more with these characters.  Excellent book, highly recommend you pick this one up.

Beautifully written love story, about first love, and an unusual way of coming out to their family.  At times I found myself laughing at the story line.  But at the same time it was so touching that it brought tears to my eyes.
The story had a bit of a twist on how they knew each other, but the author captured their story beautifully.
This book had everything; characters that came off the page, a story that held your attention and written so well it flowed wonderfully.
From the moment I started it, I didn’t want to put it down.  The characters struggled with so many issues, that the author made it feel so real.  Loved the book, would highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters were well thought out and had very good background. Hannah, Marc and Tony were my favorite characters.
While the family is getting ready to become a blended family permanently, Marc is trying to figure out how to deal with romantic feelings towards his soon to be step brother, Tony.
It was a little annoying how uncertain Marc was about his feelings. Despite having reservations, Tony is much more open with himself and his feelings towards Marc. The back and forth that goes on is realistic and heartbreaking to all parties involved.
The author was able to capture a great family dynamic. There is always that one sibling who knows all of the family gossip, there is the one sibling that is quiet and more pensive and then there are the parents who are trying to keep everything going.
I also liked how the bio-dad was portrayed for Tony. That despite Tony’s mom wanting her kids to not think poorly of their father, that she was willing to come clean about their marriage. I thought that it helped explain some of the angst in the story. However, I do wish that there would have been more dialogue between Tony and his father. It seemed like the author put this twist in the story, but then kind of glossed over how Tony was feeling or what, I think, would have at least garnered a discussion.
In the end, I thought that this book held great family drama, a heart warming love story and showed great acceptance from family, if not a little hesitant at first.

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C.Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way.

K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, where the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings – writing about men in love was even hotter…

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career.

The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

This was an interesting tale. It wrapped a love story, history, and some myth all in to one.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Cain and Alt. I thought they were a dynamic pair and despite their years of fighting their attraction, once the spark was lit, they held nothing back.

Georgia was refreshing in that she was not the helpless damsel of the story. I was really glad about that. She was a strong, independent woman who wasn’t afraid to take a chance.

Despite the big secret everyone is protecting, Georgia is bound and determined to learn all about the sleepy town.

I wish that John had played a more in depth role, but he served his purpose in the end. I also enjoyed Pappy and the Father who did not seem to bat an eye at the strange, evolved relationship that Georgia, Alt and Cain began.

Overall it was a great story. I think it would have been stronger had the twist of John been more thought out and less rushed.

Georgia Knights was  a quick short read and started out slowly but did get more interesting as the story went on.
I would have liked a little more back story to start, I had no idea what the plot of the story was and more about the characters to start would have helped in understanding what the book was about.
The characters were great, the writing made you feel as if you were right there. I especially liked that every time someone called Georgia, ” honey” she replied, “Georgia”. It was amusing how she didn’t liked being called honey and everyone there did it.  The sex scenes were well written, which was great since that was most of the book.
Overall I liked the book and would read more by this author.

Excerpt

“Boys…” She felt all flushed and tipsy, like her skin was too hot. It was amazing.

“Alt…” Caid stared at Alton over her head. “You. Damn it.” There was no anger there. Just a strangled heat.

Alton lifted one eyebrow. “Whut? We’re all adults here. There’s no reason not to enjoy ourselves.”

Well, that was true enough. She sure was enjoying them. A lot.

Georgia took a bit of pizza and offered it to Caid, holding it up to his lips. “Want some?”

“Mmmhmm.” Caid nipped it out of her fingers, licking at a little sauce that slid down to her knuckle.

She watched as he licked her finger clean, then offered a bite to Alton, going from sweet smile to wicked grin.

“Tasty.” Alton was more blatant, nibbling her fingers along with the pizza, loving on her.

Her nipples were hard as rocks, her belly taut and tense.

“Lord, Caid. She smells good, huh?” Alton leaned on her, smiling across at Caid, hand pushing Caid’s against her under the table.

“You both do.” Caid said it on a moan, Adam’s apple bobbing.

“Y’all are enough to make me breathless.” Talk about mating rituals. Jesus. She could write a bestselling erotic thesis about them.

“You’re the hottest thing I’ve seen since I laid eyes on Caid, and he’s been resisting me for years.”

Oh. Oh, God. Alton obviously had no filters. She took a moment to visualize that — fine bodies moving, rubbing. Kissing. Oh. Pretty.

Caid made another one of those noises, sounding almost pained. “Y’all.”

“I. Is there somewhere… The cook’s watching us.” And she wasn’t putting on a show for the sixteen-year-old, acne-ridden mouth breather.

“My place.” Alton threw a bunch of bills on the table, waving to the little teenagers who watched them avidly. “I need a box, kids.”

“Alton has a place almost up to the falls,” Caid whispered, breath hot on her neck.

“Okay.” She sounded like a phone sex worker, all breathy and husky.

They packed up the pizza and headed out, Alton hustling them back to her little rental SUV. He didn’t give either one of them time to think, either, just groped them both impartially.

“Alton, you’re dangerous. Sit in the back seat.”

“What? Why?” He pouted at her, but Caid punched his shoulder.

“Because no one can drive with you all over them, Alt. Get.”

She gave in to her baser instincts and went up on tiptoe to kiss the corner of Alton’s mouth. “I have to focus, huh?”

“Oh.” Alton blinked, those pretty gray eyes bright. “Got it. I’ll just sit in the back and…” He made an unmistakable motion with his hand.

She swatted him, chuckling. “Now, now. Don’t pop too soon.” She winked at Caid, offering him a quick kiss, too.

Caid surprised her with a kiss that curled her toes, capturing her mouth for a long moment before moving away. He went and sat in the passenger seat, staring, focused.

“Oh.” Wow. Okay. Driving.

Driving would be good.
