Synopsis

ook one in the Food of Love Series If music be the food of love, no wonder orchestral life is so passionate. The new violinist with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra knows she shouldn’t have a crush on its glamorous leader, Milan Kaspar, but Lydia just can’t help wanting a piece of the arrogant Czech virtuoso. Capturing his attention by refusing to play along with his plans for the orchestra, she soon finds herself drawn into his bed – a bed he shares with lovers of both sexes. But Lydia wants more than wild and inventive sex – she wants to get behind Milan’s sophisticated veneer, to find the man inside the performer. She seems doomed to failure, until a trip to his home country changes everything… Reader Advisory: This book contains menage relationships, bisexual characters and exhibitionism/voyeurism, plus some scenes of angst.

I really liked this book and the inclusion of the world of being a concert violinist.
The plot is fun and a bit twisted. I did feel at times like I didn’t full understand or get the connection or reason behind Milan’s actions. However, I did get part of the attraction and desire between the main characters.
I don’t know at the end of the book that I would particularily want to know more about the characters as I was just at a meh point since it all seemed a bit rushed and disconnected from the build up to that point.
There are certainly some decent naughty scenes in the book, but not as hot as some others I’ve read.

A Shot of J&B by Lou Sylvre #MM #Crime #BDSM #Romance @sylvre

A Shot of J&B 400x600

Title: A Shot of J&B
Author Name: Lou Sylvre
Publication Date & Length: March 2015 – 194pgs

Synopsis

Six years ago, Brian Harrison helped save the life of Jackie Vasquez, and he’s never really forgotten him. After the rescue, Brian ended his employment with Jackie’s uncle Luki and left the US for England, aiming to distance himself from the confused feelings—not lust, but not brotherly—that then sixteen-year-old Jackie engendered. Now Jackie has become a man, and when they meet again by chance, lust with a dose of D/s rope kink is definitely on the list of possibilities. As they get to know each other, though, lust shows every sign of growing into love, deep and true.

When Jackie moves to London for graduate studies in criminal psychology, he and Brian hope they’ll be able to enjoy each other’s frequent company. But they haven’t factored in the claim Brian’s police job with Scotland Yard will make on his time, especially when the “Gaslighter crimes” sap investigative resources. An abandoned aide dog named Soldier leads to a breakthrough clue, and a chain of discoveries fall like dominoes. As Brian rushes to beat the criminal’s game before it escalates to true terror, he comes to an undeniable conclusion: Jackie Vasquez, the man he loves, is in mortal danger.

“So, anyway, Brian,” he said, ending a not uncomfortable lull in the conversation. “I’m looking forward to the ride to airport. I want to hear more about your work, and London, and whatever. But,” he gestured toward the window, “here comes Sonny and Luki and Bear. I’ll get more coffee on.”

He rose, but before he turned toward the kitchen, he faced Brian and leaned forward, kissed his cheek swiftly and softly. He intended to step away, but Brian caught first one of his hands, and then the other, and held them both in one hand.

“Jackie, thank you for that. But what I’d like even more is if you were to kiss me—” Brian lifted the index finger of his free hand and touched his own lips. “—just here. Will you?”

“Yes,” Jackie whispered, and without any conscious decision to do so, added, “Yes, sir.” He leaned forward and touched his open lips to Brian’s, found them soft when he added a bit of pressure, and sent his tongue darting just inside for a taste. They broke the kiss together, but as it ended, Brian sucked and then nipped at Jackie’s bottom lip.

Brian smiled, and after he let go of Jackie’s hand, stroked once over Jackie’s shoulder and arm—a comforting touch, Jackie thought. “Thank you, Jackie,” Brian said, his eyes sparking with something like mischief. “That was lovely.”

ThreeStar

Christian is an injured war vet.  He has recently returned home damaged both physically and emotionally.  Logan is a university drama student in Seattle.

Christian’s father works for Logan’s father and the two men meet up at a Christmas party.

This feels much more modern than recent m/m New Adult books I’ve read because the writer has drawn two loving, accepting families for Christian and Logan.  She may have pushed things a little too far when Christian’s girlfriend of eight years tries to set the men up – but it was refreshing not to have to wade through secretive, closeted angst with one or both of the young main characters.   It resonated quite truthfully that the parents understood their children’s sexuality before Logan and Christian did.

I liked the way Logan was able to help Christian with his injuries and his PTSD without there being any suggestion that Christian’s problems were ever going to be treated easily.

I liked the supporting characters.  Both sets of parents were great – though I felt a little squeamish at the amount of sharing in Logan’s family.  I liked Kelli, Christian’s saint of a girlfriend.

I’m still not sure there was any need for Brian’s character.  He wasn’t believable.  How does an open, loving family raise a bigot?  And even stranger, why didn’t Christian’s parents make Brian leave?

THis book was marketed as BDSM.  Interestingly, it wasn’t something that really caught my attention.  The spanking scenes were pretty tame.  I felt that Logan’s description of his desired domestic discipline lifestyle seemed somehow clinical and emotionless.  Also, somehow Logan managed to be fully trained enough to be recognised as a club Dom before graduating from college. Right.  But there were a couple of hot sex scenes that involved spanking, so who needs to quibble details?

The writing was choppy and the story was unbelievably saccharine at times.  If you like Sandrine Gasq-Dion’s style, you’ll love this.  If you are a stickler for formal standard English, you might get frustrated.  I alternated between the two.  In the end, I suspended my disbelief and enjoyed the story.

Dinner was easy, the easiest first date Christian had ever been on. Logan laughed, talked, teased, but it felt like he was with a friend rather than with a date…but then again, that was what he asked for. After two large platters of sushi disappeared between the two of them, they paid and left. “Okay, we can drive or we can walk. The theater is only ten blocks.” Then Logan’s eyes dropped to his leg. “Damn, I forgot about your leg. Maybe we should drive.”

Shaking his head, Christian placed a hand on his arm. “Naw. I walk by the river all the time. I think I’d like to walk.”

Logan watched him, as if trying to make up his mind if Christian meant it or not. When he figured he did, he beamed. “Great. There is this cool piece of art you have got to see.”

ThreeandHalfStars

This book was not one of my favorites from her. Linus is a young sub who had a terrible experience by the abusive “Master” that we saw last book.  He is incredible timid and shy, not a strong sub like we’ve seen in the other characters throughout this series.
Thomas is a Dom, but he is so careful when it comes to Linus that it almost seems like he is willing to put his Dom side away, just so he doesn’t scare Linus.
These two characters danced around each other so much. What could have been a really great relationship turned out to be less than spectacular. It was more of a courtship and the substance was just not there for me.
Despite that, I enjoyed reading this continuation of the series.

4 Stars for The Rules of Love (The Hampton Road Club #2) by Morticia Knight #MM #BDSM #Historical #Romance @MorticiaKnight @Totally_Bound

1.3

Title: The Rules of Love (The Hampton Road Club #2)
Author Name: Morticia Knight
Publication Date & Length: February 6, 2015 – 143pgs

Synopsis

Master Saul is captivated by the beautifully submissive Kenneth and the boy’s love of pain. Unfortunately, Kenneth belongs to Master Preston.

It’s 1926 and as one of the founding members of the Hampton Road Club, Master Saul Liebowitz has enjoyed the charms of many willing submissives over the years. One of the newer submissives to the club has captured his attention more than anyone has in a long time. Kenneth is tall, muscular and also seems to have a greater love of pain than most. If only Kenneth didn’t already belong to another Master.

After Kenneth’s Master died years before, he allowed himself to be taken in by the promises of Master Preston. As time has gone by, Preston has become increasingly crueler to the point where Kenneth fears for his life. They’ve recently joined a sadomasochism club and Kenneth can’t help but yearn for the handsome Master the other boys speak so highly of—Master Saul.

Preston takes things too far one night, and when Saul and his good friend, Master Aaron, do some investigating, they realize that Kenneth might be in real danger. Amidst turmoil at the club over whether there should be rules to keep the boys safe and Preston’s play for power, Saul searches for a way to save Kenneth from what he’s sure is a deadly situation.

Both men fight for what they believe to be the right thing. When they find their way to one another, a wonderful new world opens up to them. But there’s one man out there who refuses to let go of the old ways. Kenneth is his property and Master Preston won’t give him up.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence and dubious consent.

Warning: This book deals with abuse and non-consensual relations.
I really enjoy Knight’s style of writing. She is great at spinning a story, but in a way that is easy to read.
Master Saul is a kind heart. He is one of many dominants living in hiding during the 1920’s. BDSM was not widely known at this time and men were forced to carry relationships on in secret.
Kenneth is a submissive to his core. He is a protector, tenderhearted man who simply wants someone to cherish him.
I wanted to do bodily harm to Preston. He doesn’t deserve the title Master. He is a horrible person with a power complex. His narcissistic personality is tough to swallow. Even his “follower” Otis is someone I wanted to punch in the balls.
The bond that formed between Kenneth and Master Saul was strong from the very beginning. The love, however, was a little too “insta-love” for me. Despite that, I did enjoy the story.

This was a very well-written short story/novella. Its genre is a bit hard to place because it’s certainly not a romance or erotic piece. It’s a coming of age, a coming into being, a finding authenticity of one’s self piece. The story flowed nicely and well; however, at the end I was left unsatisfied. There wasn’t much a conclusion and it left me with an odd sense of why did I even just read this? I’m really not sure why, but the lack of conclusion left me on uneven ground.

I loved the details to language in this piece. Anyone who has studied a foreign language in any depth can relate. There is detail here that helps carry the piece along in other areas. The characters are fully formed and definitely relatable. I found Mira’s true to life issues (excluding Mistress Susan) to be very realistic. As for Mistress Susan, it’s not that I found it unrealistic, I found the reactions after the fact unrealistic and unexplored when I think they should have been explored to some extent.

Synopsis

Kaden Thorn, a dental surgeon who lives a quiet life, has no hope of finding the love he craves. A vicious gay bashing cost him the use of his legs and confined him to a wheelchair. Deacon James is an architect and a demanding Dom, but he has spent the past couple of years without a sub or partner. He prides himself on being an excellent judge of character, and when he meets the younger dentist, he sees past the chair and finds a sweet submissive man who more than piques his interest.

Kade’s fears and demons continue to haunt him, challenging Deacon to use everything he’s learned as a Dom to earn Kade’s trust and submission. Deacon’s determined, though, willing to battle all of it to have Kade by his side and at his feet.

The Hero’s in this journey.

Kade, a dental surgeon who lives a quiet life.

Kade… oh Kade! Your heart will hurt for the pain he has suffered and cheer for him in the next breath, with the strength he shows, after suffering a horrible attack that left him confined to a wheelchair. He is a submissive but hasn’t had his own Dom since his accident.

Deacon, is an architect and a demanding Dom, but spent the last couple years without a sub.

When Kade and Deacon meet the attraction was intense. Impressed with the author’s knowledge of the challenges a person in a wheelchair might encounter when entering in to a Dom/sub relationship. Deacon doesn’t make Kade feel weak at all. He treats him like a human being. If you are a lover of BDSM with some menage with 2 very close friends, you will want to find a quiet spot for this steamy, heartfelt journey. Phew!!
