I really liked this book and the inclusion of the world of being a concert violinist.
The plot is fun and a bit twisted. I did feel at times like I didn’t full understand or get the connection or reason behind Milan’s actions. However, I did get part of the attraction and desire between the main characters.
I don’t know at the end of the book that I would particularily want to know more about the characters as I was just at a meh point since it all seemed a bit rushed and disconnected from the build up to that point.
There are certainly some decent naughty scenes in the book, but not as hot as some others I’ve read.

M’lan knelt beside the assassin’s bronzed body. He placed his palm on Jamil’s chest and silently beseeched Salar to remove the deadly impulses instilled in Jamil ever since he began his training as an assassin. Jamil closed his eyes and seemed to relax, but as the warm energy of the god seeped through M’lan’s fingers, Jamil jerked suddenly to full alertness. Like a cobra striking he seized M’lan’s wrist and gave it a painful twist, eyes flashing. M’lan sat back, startled.

Jamil did not let him go. He let out a slow breath and lifted M’lan’s fingers to his mouth. He kissed the knuckles of a clenched fist. “The last thing I need is more spells to confuse this simple warrior’s mind.”

“A prayer is not a spell!” M’lan tried to pull free but couldn’t. He gritted his teeth, fighting back a rising anger. Jamil’s strength both entranced and infuriated him.

“Stop trying to weaken me.” Jamil said in a wretchedly calm voice. “You must stay here and do your duty, I must go away and do mine. Nothing has changed.”

M’lan inhaled slowly, breath catching. “Let me go.”

This was a wonderful, quick read full of heat and heart. I was drawn in right away by the first-person narrator. Even in such a short story, there was plenty of detail to give a sense of who these people are and how they relate to each other, and the little bits of backstory sprinkled in round things out nicely.

The sex was hot, very sensual and romantic without being over-the-top. Again, I liked the little details. They made it fun and sexy. The writing style is just lovely, and I can’t wait to read more by this author.

FourandHalfStars

This was a fantastic little short story. It’s hot and sexy and really fun to read. I rarely find books about boi’s or those who are a bit androgynous, and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint.

The two characters have definite chemistry, and they come together with a bang. There’s enough history to give them both rounded personalities, at least as rounded as one can expect for something that takes me (a slow reader) about thirty minutes to finish.
The premise behind the plot is short, quick, absolutely adorable and to the point. It’s smut with a fantastic background. Not quite PWP (if you’re familar with fanfic terminology, if not, Plot? What Plot?), but enough to get anyone’s motor going.

A little idea niggled at my brain—like an evil elf had tapped me on the shoulder. “You know, if you give me your card, I could call you if you leave your wallet behind again.”

There. His cheeks went dusky pink. I finally got a blush out of him, but hell if I could decipher what it meant. I could predict people’s taste in coffee, down to preferred syrup flavor, but I still sucked at decoding anything as complex as human emotions.

“Ah. Um.” He did the nervous cough thing again.

“Never mind.” I wiped my hands on my apron. “I’d better get back.”

“Wait.” He opened the wallet, plucked out a white card with a blue logo, and offered it to me. His broad fingers brushed mine again as he handed it over. Another barely there touch, but I felt the charge all the way down my spine, like I’d chugged a triple shot.

My breath tripped with wishing he’d add a “call me anytime.” Brian would have. But David just stood there silently. Straighter than the Fremont Bridge and denser than a concrete pylon.

This is a charming story of two men who had a relationship in high school meeting up more than ten years later.

Vinnie is a slightly directionless red-headed bar tender.  In his late twenties, he hasn’t ever made any serious commitments or had a long-term relationship.

Chance is a single father.  He is building his own business while caring for a young son.  After a long hetero marriage he is finally ready to be honest about the fact he is gay.

Back in school the men fooled around for a summer.  They never talked about their feelings and the relationship ended when they went back to school.

When Chance walks into Vinnie’s bar and the men meet for the first time since school, things are more than a little bit complicated between them.

This short story is tender and nuanced.  It is told alternately from Chase and Vinnie’s perspectives.  The dual narrative allows Grace to sensitively explore both men’s memories, feelings and insecurities.

An excellent short story – I just wish Grace had written this as a full novel!

“It’s not exactly the penthouse, but it’s home.” I reach back for Chance’s wrist and tug him in behind me.

“I didn’t come here for the amenities,” he says, resting his hand on my hip and squeezing.

“No?” I turn so his arm is wrapped around my waist. “What did you come for?”

My face is inches from his. His warm breath washes over me as I stare into those desperate eyes.

“This.” Chance’s eyes drop to my mouth as his head tilts and he leans into me. As soon as his full lips close over mine, I want to sing. I instinctively open my mouth to accept his tongue as it lightly brushes over mine. We aren’t tentative kids anymore. We’ve both had time to perfect our techniques over the years so by the time I drag Chance into my room, I’ve touched every space in his mouth that I can reach.

Our hands aren’t left idle as we tug on clothes and pull down zippers until we’re both naked and panting on my bed.

“God, I’ve missed you, Vin,” Chance says against my chest as he drops kisses on my skin.

4 & 5 Stars for Have a Little Faith in Me by Brad Vance (Author Interview) – #MM #Romance #Erotica

Title: Have a Little Faith in Me
Author Name: Brad Vance
Publication Date & Length: January 28, 2015 – 291pgs

Synopsis

When Rocky met Dex, it was hate at first sight. Country superstar Dex Dexter represented everything that budding rock star Rocky McCoy had left behind him in the Deep South – the religion, the homophobia, the hypocrisy, the lies. And Rocky represented everything that Dex had denied, had turned away from, had refused…

When Rocky met Dex, it was love at first touch. Double booked in the same slot on the main stage at CrossFest, they fought for the microphone like two dogs fighting over a bone. And when their hands met…

Rocky has had enough. “No more falling for straight guys. No way. No matter how hot. Especially if the ‘straight guy’ looks to me like a major closet case.”

Dex has had enough. “No way. I can’t be gay. I can’t lose my family, my friends, my career. I can’t.”

What they’ve had enough of doesn’t matter. It’s what they’ve never had enough of that will bring them together…

This was my first novel of Brad Vance’s but it won’t be my last. This was aheart-warming, gut-wrenching, realistic journey with our Hero’s, who are both struggling internally with their sexuality, during a time when it wasn’t as accepted to come out. The story is told in dual POV’s, and I loved that aspect.

Both men have a gift when it comes to music. The author including lyrics of songs added an extra personal touch to an already heart-warming story.

When Norman aka Rocky meets Dex, they can’t stand each other but there is also an attraction they are fighting and the author describes it so good that you can’t help gobbling up the pages just to feel more heat from this chemistry.

The author does a phenomenal job of capturing your attention from Page 1 and you gladly let your heart follow this beautiful, sexy journey with two men who deal with disappointment, adversity, pain in a way that will have you cheering for them to get what they need and most heartfully deserve!

“And when I thought i’d lost it all, You’re the one who was there for me, When I had no faith in myself, you had a little faith in me” ….Beautiful!!

Reviewer: Kimberley

FourStars

I was a little disappointed that the story was mostly regarding the past lives of Dex and Rocky.  I would have liked a little more present day story. I get that the author wanted you to have a clear picture of how they grew up, and he did an excellent job of writing that.  I found Rocky’s dad disgusting with his views of gay people.  The author took on a very big subject of bigotry, but wrote and expressed it very well.

Dex and Rocky were great characters.  I felt for Dex having to hide his sexuality while growing up, loved his part when Katrina came.  I think that was one of my favorite parts, made the story more real.  I felt Rocky on the other hand let guys like Nico use him and he had to struggle more with relationships.  I loved the ending with how they ended up being together, nice closure for the story.

It was a good story and I look forward to reading more by this author.

AuthorInterview

  1. Do you name your books before or after you write them? How about the synopsis?

Thanks for letting me visit!  The titles vary – “Have a Little Faith in Me” was just named “Rocky and Dex” until late in the process.  “A Little Too Broken” was a title I had set in stone from the beginning, since the whole story stemmed from that concept.  The one I’m working on right now had the title right away.  It’s a romance between a software billionaire and a hacker who may or may not be trustworthy – so it’s called “Would I Lie To You?”

The synopsis definitely comes last.  Usually right before I publish!  I’ve gotten pretty good at coming up with those at the last minute, I think.

  1. Do you read books? What genre is your favorite?

Oh yeah, I read a lot.  Right now, it’s mostly research for settings, historical periods, etc.  I’m working my writing job and my “Day Job” for a little while longer, but I’m about to become a full time writer.  Then I’m going to make more time to read for pleasure again.  But I do love history – a good history has a better narrative than most novels.

  1. What is one tip that you wish someone had told you?

Hmmm.  I’d say “be yourself” when you’re marketing yourself and your books.  When I started doing erotica 2.5 years ago, I read so much claptrap about “building your brand” and “managing your web presence” and all this sterile, corporate crap.  So I saw marketing as…well, just like something you’d do in a cubicle, in an office.  Kill me, right?  So I either didn’t do it, or I did a terrible job of it.  Finally I just said, fuck it, I’m just going to get on Facebook and do interviews and be my crazy self and if people don’t like it, they won’t like my books either, so that’s fine.  Now I have a blast doing it.

  1. What is one thing not included in your bio? Something random that most people don’t know about you?

Ummm…if it’s something most people don’t know about me, there’s a reason for that J

  1. If you couldn’t write in the genre you normally write in, what genre would you chose?

History.  Popular narrative history, it’s so exciting.  In the mean time, I love writing historical erotica and romance.  One of my upcoming projects is about an English knight and a French Knight who fall in love during the Hundred Years’ War.

  1. Do you have any special rituals/habits that you do when you write?

I have to have music.  Silence makes me crazy, it unnerves the hell out of me.  It’s a good excuse to buy music, though, since if it’s necessary for my creative process, it’s tax deductible as far as I’m concerned!

  1. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything about your latest book?

No…I’ve gotten dinged in reviews because the book is heavier on backstory than on the contemporary parts, but you can’t look back.  I am planning on not doing that so much in the next book, though.

  1. Do you have anything specific to say to your readers?

Well, thank you!  When I started out, I was told that I was making a mistake by writing erotica, romance and erotic-paranormal all under the same name.  But I’m finding that my hardcore fans will read anything I write, which is great.  I did create a new name, “Adam Vance” for my non-gay, non-erotic science fiction, and some of my fans have even read that and enjoyed it.

  1. Do you ever experience writer’s block? If so, how do you break it?

Nope!  I’m a machine!  I always have ideas, and I’m always working.  Knock on wood.  I get writer’s fatigue where I’ll take off a week, at most, but then I’m recharged and ready to go again.

  1. What’s next for you as a writer?

My pipeline is full.  Right now I’m working on another in my stepbrothers series, “Kyle’s New Stepbrother” – I’m working on #5 right now.  “Would I Lie to You,” in progress.  “Adam Vance” needs to write the next book in his science fiction series.  There are more adventures to be written in the “Colum’s Viking Captivity” series.  My knights in the Hundred Years War…I don’t think I left anything out!

Quickies…

Dog or Cat?  Cat

Favorite Color?  Blue

Favorite curse word?  FUCK

Short or tall? A man can be short, if he’s tall where it counts.

Favorite holiday?  July 4th.

Morning or Night? Morning.

Ninjas or Pirates?  Hmm they’re both stealthy.  Pirates are dirty which is good, but, they’re smelly and have bad teeth … I’m gonna go with ninjas.

Excerpt

Rocky picked up the Gibson Hummingbird. Chris Cornell played one of these. What more did he need to know?

He knew exactly what he wanted to play. How many times had he played this song, how many times had he stretched his voice, discovering his own vocal range. The notes of “Like a Stone” flowed from his fingers in a waterfall, and the words were a flock of birds banking wildly in front of the cascade, flirting with disaster.

He came to the end, the roaring finish, his eyes closed as he sang the epic wave of notes in the last word of the song, “alone.”

He’d only ever played the song when he was alone with Korey, who was no cheerleader. Korey would nod, say, “Good job.” And then tell him where he missed something.

When he was done, he opened his eyes. His new friends were speechless. “Was it okay?” he asked doubtfully.

“Holy fucking great mother of God,” Rick gasped. “Who the fuck are you? Where did you come from?”

Rocky smiled. “Under a rock. I’ve been living under a rock.”

If you are looking for a fast sexy read, this one is for you. Wow, love how Summer just let’s go with Ben on the plane.  But really, what was she thinking going home with a complete stranger (Ben)!  What a surprise when she gets there.  Rachael did a wonderful job catching everything into this fantastic short story.  The intensity of the sex at the apartment was hot and steamy.  But I couldn’t believe after all that, Summer walks away. Gotta say, the ending was awesome.  Excellent read by a wonderful author.

I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

What can I say? This book had some HOT sex. Man, twins too! Yummy!  Bryce and Ben, twins in ALMOST every way… Summer is one lucky lady.

The plane scene was amazing! Everyone knows it’s hard to hear on the plane, so it’s the perfect spot! But, the scene at the house… MAN!

Despite the story being a little predictable, I really enjoyed it. Let’s just say that the author gave me a new wardrobe to wear on a plane ride!

I have written in F/F, F/F/M, F/F/F and then of course F/M genres…. So, beware, I do not always have the most ‘traditional’ scenes. And one day I will venture into M/M, just have to find the time.

I love to try new things and learn from every piece of work I write. I’ll write just about anything once to learn from it. I’ve even ventured out of my normal erotica genre into Monster Erotica. This is my first time reading Alexis Woods. When I read the synopsis, I chose to read this because I was looking for something short, and a naughty fix, so to speak!

Aaron, is a manager of a pharmacy and dealing with the disappointment of a recent breakup.

Darren, is filling in for a pharmacist at Aaron’s pharmacy.

When Aaron and Darren meet the first time, you feel an attraction through the pages. I loved that the author included chapter headings that refer to baseball. The author definitely has a way with naughty words and this was fun, sexy, quick read!

However, I didn’t particularly care for the rhyming names or that there seemed to be more sex than plot.

Reviewer: Kimberley

ThreeStar

This is the story of Ace, a pharmacy manager.  When we first meet him, he is bemoaning a string of regrettable relationships and relying heavily on his friends for support.

It is also the story of Darren, a temporary pharmacist working in his store.

This is a simple, gentle romance.  The men meet and date at Ace’s friends’ pub.  They enjoy watching baseball together.

And then it ends.  Abruptly.  I don’t want to spoil the ending because it left me in a bit of a muddle.  I still haven’t decided how I feel about it.  It was funny – funny how?  I’m not sure.

And so the three stars. It was almost as if two different stories had been tacked together.  I liked both the men, I liked the writing style.  I liked the way the plot felt natural.  I liked Ace’s friends.

I just remain completely bamboozled by the ending.

Always an avid reader and colorful dreamer, it was only a matter of time before taking pen to paper, oftentimes literally. A firm believer in every song tells a story and every story has a song, I sing under my breath, tap my toes and swing my hips, much to the delight of my co-workers and friends. I freely admit that becoming a romance author is the best mid-life crisis a girl could ever have.

Synopsis

Jeremy Linden’s a PhD student researching an HIV vaccine. He’s always short of money, and when biotech startup PharmaTek reduces funding for his fellowship, he’s tempted to take a job at a men’s dining club as a serving boy. The uniforms are skimpy, and he’s expected to remove an item of clothing after each course. He can handle that, but he soon discovers there’s more on the menu here than fine cuisine. How far will he go to pay his tuition, and will money get in the way when he realizes he’s interested in more from one of his gentlemen?

Brice Martin is an attorney for a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. When he’s asked to take a client to the infamous Dinner Club, he finds himself unexpectedly turned on by the atmosphere and especially by his server, Remy. He senses there’s more to the sexy young man than meets the eye. The paradox fascinates him, and he can’t get enough of Remy.

Their relationship quickly extends beyond the club and sex. But the trust and affection they’ve worked to achieve may crumble when Jeremy discovers Brice’s VC firm is the one that pulled the plug on PharmaTek—and Jeremy’s research grant.

FourStars

Jeremy is a book worm who finds himself needing some extra income. Despite his brains, unfortunately for him, science doesn’t pay all that well when you are in the middle of developing drugs. It’s only after the drug has been proven that it makes money.

I have to admit that I was skeptical about this book when I first began reading. The “service” position was one that piqued my curiosity. I hope places like this one exists – even though some of the men who frequented the place were creepy.

Brice is a character that I could really grow to love. I liked his innocence and his willingness to see his own desires – despite being uncomfortable at first. I also liked how his inner monologue was not too happy about having to “entertain” a potential customer, but he was willing to take one for the team.

Jeremy and Brice’s relationship is fragile in the beginning. I felt as though it was being held together by the thinnest of strings. I liked how Jeremy was able and willing to see beyond the man that Brice was at the club – to want more from him.

The scenes this book describes are very steamy – my food would definitely be cold before I even tasted it, since I would be gawking instead of eating.

I do hope that there is going to be a book about Kit. He was a crazy character who has so much potential! Also, I hope we learn more about the mysterious Sky Blue too!

EM Lynley writes gay erotic romance. She loves books where the hero gets the guy and the loving is 11 on a scale of 10. Her Precious Gems series is best described as “Indiana Jones meets Romancing the Stone”—only gayer. The Delectable series is Gay Romance with Taste.

A Rainbow Award winner and EPPIE finalist, EM has worked in high finance, high tech, and in the wine industry, though she’d rather be writing hot, romantic man-on-man action. She spent 10 years as an economist and financial analyst, including a year as a White House Staff Economist, but only because all the intern positions were filled. Tired of boring herself and others with dry business reports and articles, her creative muse is back and naughtier than ever. She has lived and worked in London, Tokyo and Washington, D.C., but the San Francisco Bay Area is home for now.

She is the author of Sex, Lies & Wedding Bells, the Precious Gems series from Dreamspinner Press, and the Rewriting History series starring a sexy jewel thief, among others. Her books are available in print and e-book from Amazon & other book distributors.
